Welcome to the home of Hill and Veil! We are a student group at Virginia Tech dedicated to supporting Middle Eastern dance (belly dance) in our community through a laid back, fun atmosphere for both students and the general public alike with weekly practices open to everyone. Hill and Veil is also a member of CISO (the Council of International Student Organizations) at Virginia Tech.
Located in the Appalachian mountains near the city of Roanoke, we are part of the Southwestern Virginia Middle Eastern Dance Association (SWVAMEDA), an informal group of teachers, students, and other dancers. If you are looking for a teacher, performer, or dance event in our area, please explore the SWVAMEDA web site for a wealth of local resources.

We meet every Monday and Wednesday night from 8-10pm during the fall and spring semesters in War Memorial Gym, Multi-purpose room A.
Monday: Advanced level practice. We concentrate on teaching and practicing choreographies for upcoming shows.
Wednesday: 8-9pm Beginners level practice. We concentrate isolations and technique starting at the very basics for girls with no prior experience. Classes build on each other, so it is not advised to begin lessons in the middle of the semester.
9-10pm Intermediate level practice. A continuation from beginners level practice. Focus shifts from beginners moves and choreographies to harder moves and choreographies.
