About Us

Hill and Veil is a student-run not for profit bellydance organization located in Blacksburg, VA. We are dedicated to supporting Middle Eastern dance in our community through a laid back, fun atmosphere for both students and the general public alike with weekly practices open to everyone.

We are comprised of three American Cabaret troupes: beginner, Intermediate, and advanced. We dance to a myriad of music, from traditional Egyptian to Top 40 hits. We also have a Fusion group - refer to the Fusion tab for more details.

Come join us for beginner classes in War Memorial Gym, Multipurpose Room A, every Wednesday night at 8 pm.

We perform at a variety of local venues across Blacksburg and Christiansburg throughout the year including SheSha Cafe & Hookah Lounge and Warm Hearth Retirement Community. We also hold workshops for beginners and other Hill and Veil members on Sundays. Information on workshops can also be found on our events page.

Hill and Veil is now accepting requests for special events. A special event is any event which is not associated with Virginia Tech or Virginia Tech related organizations. We also offer workshops for other Virginia Tech clubs or groups. All money from these events goes toward the club. Details

Our free beginner classes have begun. Come join us in War Memorial Gym, Multipurpose Room A at 8 pm on Wednesdays. We concentrate on isolations and technique starting at the very basics for people with no prior experience. Come shimmy with us!

Tryouts for the Intermediate and Advanced levels take place at the beginning of each semester For those with bellydance experience, Intermediate and Advanced level tryouts are held during the second week of classes. Focus in Intermediate classes shifts from beginners moves and choreographies to harder moves and choreographies. Join our google group or contact an officer for more information.

Reema Joseph Samaha was a beautiful dancer and wonderful person. She was majoring in Urban Planning with minors in International Studies and French when she was tragically taken from us. Her memory lives on in dance.

We invite you to visit our memorial page.
